Bored one weekend I travelled down to the Abu Dhabi International Hunting Exhibition (ADIHEX). It’s difficult to describe so I’ll let the pictures do the talking but if readers from the UK can imagine the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre filled with over-the-top recreational vehicles, live animals, firearms, hunting trophies and dodgy stalls offering ‘hunting’ trips; then you get the idea.
I was in South Africa in December last year for a flying visit. With the countdown for the Fifa World Cup well underway, I decided to dig out some of the many photos that were taken in a five-day visit to the Rainbow Nation.
These are photos taken as part of a visit to Muscat, the capital of Oman in the Arabian Gulf. The trip, in December 2009, started as a trip to the Shangri La, a five-star hotel, then went on to include a trip to the centre of the capital.
Photos taken on a trip to the island off the east coast of Oman in August 2009. The island contains a village, Omani military base and is popular with kitesurfers due to the high winds. Some of these photos were reprinted in The National’s travel section in April 2010.
