Bored one weekend I travelled down to the Abu Dhabi International Hunting Exhibition (ADIHEX). It’s difficult to describe so I’ll let the pictures do the talking but if readers from the UK can imagine the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre filled with over-the-top recreational vehicles, live animals, firearms, hunting trophies and dodgy stalls offering ‘hunting’ trips; then you get the idea.

Musandam dhow cruise

A cruise through the fjords of Musandam, an Omani peninsula on the northern tip of the UAE. The area, which meets the Strait of Hormuz, used to be a communications hub for the region and is still a popular trade route. Dolphins still greet visitors on the traditional Arabian-style dhows.

Pictures from a trip to Masirah Island, Oman

Photos taken on a trip to the island off the east coast of Oman in August 2009. The island contains a village, Omani military base and is popular with kitesurfers due to the high winds. Some of these photos were reprinted in The National’s travel section in April 2010.
